Before You Arrive

Getting started is exciting, but can be overwhelming as well. Once you are recommended for hire, there are things you can and should begin doing BEFORE your first actual day on the job.

Information About Your New Employee Orientation Session

  • Check for the clearance e-mail from your Human Resource Services assistant for your New Employee Orientation date.  This will include reminders about what documents you will need to bring to the session.  Click here to find out more information about these sessions.
  • While district staff will go over this with you at your New Employee Orientation, read about Benefits Information here.
  • At this New Employee Orientation session, staff will also address your picture ID

Schedule, Job Duties, and Expectations

  • Reach out to your principal/manager to determine your first week’s schedule and any logistical information you may need for your first day.

  • Ask your Principal (or hiring manager) for an Onboarding Checklist.
  • Review hours and days of work on your Service Calendar. Learn about procedures at Access Central for overtime, use of vacation, sick time, holidays, and any flexible work procedures.
  • Visit our schools page to learn as much about your campus as possible.  This should include reading through your campus website, exploring the school’s boundaries and feeder pattern, and studying your campus demographics.
  • Complete any required pre-service training provided to you by your supervisor.
